Frequently Asked Questions
Your CPMT Society has collected a list of the most commonly asked questions
to our officers and volunteers. In order to help you quickly find the
answer to your question, we have posted the answers to these questions
below. Where information is available in our Web site, or the site maintained
by the IEEE, we've tried to provide a link (please email us if these links
become stale).
If you do not find the answer that you are looking for in our
FAQ, you may always send your
questions via e-mail to our Society president, for circulation and action.

1. How do I help a co-worker join CPMT?
- You can get membership information from our Membership Chair
Ralph Russell.
Send your mailing address, or that of your co-worker.
You can also print the form itself from our Web Site's
Membership Page.
There are at least three options:
- For a professional with a degree in a technical area,
we encourage "regular" IEEE membership, plus CPMT membership.
Ralph has an offer that lets your friend get a free past
Conference Proceedings for joining.
- Someone who is in a different field (math, physics, materials,
business) can also become a member of IEEE, and will likely be
given "Associate" status; this means they get all the benefits of
being in IEEE, but they don't have to vote in our elections! If
desired, your friend can upgrade to "Member" status by filling out
a few forms and short references, but there's basically no difference
in the services provided by our CPMT Society.
- Another choice, especially for someone from another field, is
"Affiliate" membership. If your friend is a member of another major
professional society with technical/degree requirements for THEIR
members, then he/she can Affiliate with CPMT itself, at reduced dues
(after all, they already paid dues to the OTHER society).
Ralph can send the details.
- And of course your friend doesn't need to be an IEEE or CPMT member
to be active in one of our many
Technical Committees, publish
papers
in our Transactions, or come to our
conferences.
