OVERVIEW:
This technical short course uses live demonstrations and "hands-on" student participation to illustrate and explain the basic causes and prevention methods for electrostatic discharge (ESD) . Demonstrations, lecture, and discussion review the basic concepts, terminology, and actions necessary to deal with ESD problems in modern thin film device and printed circuit board manufacturing and development environments. Device handling application discussions include magnetic recording (MR, GMR, and thin film) heads, integrated circuits, and thin film electronic devices.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Technicians, operators, and engineers working in manufacturing engineering, production, quality assurance, development, device testing, failure analysis, and process engineering. Line managers and supervisors looking to broaden their technical and practical knowledge should also consider this offering.
