After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy, Rufino enrolled in San Jose State University and received a BSEE. During his senior year Rufino held the office of Chairman in SJSU's IEEE Student Chapter. He was also a founding member of the Pilipino Engineering and Science Organization (PESO).
Another noteworthy point: he was a part of a senior design team selected to represent the United States in the international robotic competition, Robolympia, in Osaka Japan. The competition was to build a robot for a long jumping contest powered only by AA batteries. The robot jumped 26.5 feet and was awarded 2nd Place.
Rufino has worked in a variety of companies such as PG&E's Fiber Optics Section, Lifescan's Process Engineering Group and LTX's Manufacturing Department. Currently he is a Hardware Engineer in LTX's Digital Products Division, designing high speed functions into FPGAs. LTX Corporation is a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of computer-controlled systems for testing linear, digital and mixed signal devices.
He has been actively involved in the Santa Clara Valley Section CPMT Society Chapter for three years, serving as Treasurer from 1995 to 1997 and as Chapter Chair since 1997. He has also given numerous presentations at SJSU on topics such as DFM and optimizing Verilog code for high speed FPGA design.
His phone number is +1-408-383-2460, but a quick email message also gets to him.
